On Monday morning, May 18, 2026, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Mohammed Al-Tamimi, Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, honored a group of female students who completed an artwork on a wall inside the college. The art team from the Department of Oil Project Management consisted of students Saja Sami Hamoud, Ruqaya Aqeel Lazem, Zahraa Aqeel Laibi, and Shahd Amjad Abdul-Maaboud, as well as Rasel Issa Jassim from the Department of Oil and Gas Economics.
This artwork, titled "University of Basra for Oil and Gas / College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas," represents the practical dimension of the academic departments' interest in management within the oil and gas fields. It depicts the oil extraction process. From energy generation and its conversion into fuel and petrochemicals, to its conversion into cooking gas, the students' role wasn't limited to theoretical aspects. The team of five female students added an artistic dimension, reflecting their aspirations for a bright future.
The Dean of the College commended this initiative and artistic work, emphasizing their efforts and urging other students to leave their mark of creativity in their respective fields, both scientifically and artistically.
