Date: 20 April, 2026

On the morning of Monday (April 20, 2026), Associate Professor Dr. Ahmed Ali Ahmed Al-Rashed, Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing and a faculty member at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, served on the defense committee for a Master's thesis titled: (Banking Technologies and Their Impact on the Future of the Banking Industry in Iraq: An Analytical Study for the Period 2017–2024). The thesis was submitted by Nab'a Sami Abdul Ali, a student at the College of Administration and Economics / Department of Financial and Banking Sciences.

The thesis presented by the student aimed to measure the impact of banking technologies—using the Theil-Sen method—on financial performance, and to forecast their future using the Holt prediction model.

The thesis included a theoretical section on the concepts of digital transformation and electronic banking, as well as a practical section involving the analysis of financial and field data from Iraqi banks for the period (2017–2024), utilizing advanced econometric and statistical models to link technological variables with profitability and liquidity indicators.

The thesis concluded that there is a positive and significant effect of these technologies on Return on Assets (ROA) and the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR), while the impact on other indicators was partial.

The thesis recommended intensifying investment in banking technologies and expanding digital transformation, emphasizing the need to develop infrastructure, as well as conducting future studies to keep pace with global developments in the banking industry.
