A Scientific Seminar at Al-Qadisiyah University Discusses the Biography of the College's Administrative Assistant as an Influential Academic Figure in Creativity and Culture

The College of Engineering at Al-Qadisiyah University organized a scientific seminar entitled "An Influential Academic Figure in Creativity and Culture: Dr. Haider Al-Asadi" on Sunday morning, April 5, 2026. The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Fatima Jamal Ali, who prepared and presented in English the biography and achievements of Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Ali Al-Asadi (writer, journalist, and academic), the Administrative Assistant at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas. This seminar aimed to honor influential figures and encourage them to contribute further creativity and excellence in the fields of culture, thought, and diverse community activities. The researcher discussed Al-Asadi's biography, noting that he earned his Master's and Doctoral degrees with honors from the University of Basra and held numerous academic and administrative positions, including Head of the Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing, Administrative Assistant at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, and Director of the Department of Media and Government Communication at the University of Basra for Oil and Gas. He obtained memberships in the Syndicate of Academics, Journalists, Artists, and the Union of Writers and Authors, and is a member of the International Union for the Arabic Language. The lecture reviewed the international literary and cultural awards he received in various countries, including (Iran, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, Sweden, Jordan, Iraq). The lecturer explained that Dr. Haider Al-Asadi has 15 books in the fields of thought, culture, literature, criticism, and articles, and most of his works were printed outside Iraq. Al-Asadi also contributed to participating in international and local festivals and various humanitarian, cultural, and artistic works throughout his literary and cultural career. Jamal pointed out that Al-Asadi has been writing articles and studies in well-known local and Arab newspapers and magazines for nearly 20 years, and he has regular columns in many newspapers and magazines. Thousands of his articles have been published in the local and Arab press, and studies, articles, and scientific research have been written about his experiences. His biography has been mentioned in many dictionaries and bibliographies as one of the most important figures of culture and literature in Basra during the past few years.
