The Department of Oil and Gas Economics Organizes a Scientific Workshop

The Department of Oil and Gas Economics at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized a scientific workshop entitled: “The Impact of Political Instability on the Iraqi Economy” on Thursday evening, April 9, 2026, via Zoom.

The workshop was presented by two faculty members from the Department of Oil and Gas Economics: Assistant Lecturer Awatif Abdul Rahman Faraj and Assistant Lecturer Shahd Hassoun Radhi. Faculty members from the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas were also in attendance.

The workshop addressed the impact of political instability on the Iraqi economy, explaining that instability generates uncertainty that negatively affects investment, growth, and the oil sector. It also highlighted that the Iraqi economy has been significantly impacted through various phases, culminating in the current situation characterized by fluctuating oil revenues and weak stability. The workshop emphasized that addressing these challenges requires structural reforms and economic diversification.
