Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Mohammed Al-Tamimi, Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, served as a member and supervisor of the examination committee for Master's student Batoul Zuhair. Her thesis, titled "Measuring the Relationship Between Unemployment and Economic Growth in Iraq and Saudi Arabia According to the OKUN Law," was defended at the University of Basra, College of Administration and Economics.
This academic thesis focuses on two key variables: unemployment and economic growth. It employs an econometric model, utilizing the econometric models adopted by the student.
The thesis concludes that the OKUN law can be applied to the Iraqi economy to develop policies that reduce unemployment rates in Iraq. It also explores how to increase growth rates to absorb the workforce and thus reduce unemployment in Iraq.
