Basrah University for Oil and Gas took part in the events of the second season of the grand national competition “A Nation that Reads”, which was held under the patronage and organization of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain and supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The competition took place in Karbala Governorate.
The university was represented by Lecturer Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Hashim as supervisor, and student Ahmed Adel Salem from the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas as a contestant. Ahmed Adel Salem won first place in the second season of the "A Nation that Reads” competition among all universities in Basrah.
The university’s participation sent a clear message that culture and education are the pathways to hope and success for Iraqi youth.
It is also worth noting that student Ahmed Adel Salem was selected to deliver the speech on behalf of all Iraqi students during the competition’s closing ceremony, which was attended by high-ranking figures from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Ministry of Education, and the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain.
