Under the patronage of the President of Basra University of Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Mohammed Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Mohammed Al-Tamimi, the Electronic Computer Center at Basra University of Oil and Gas, in cooperation with the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, organized this morning, Sunday, June 1, 2025, a specialized training course entitled: "Applications in Geographic Information Systems (GIS)", presented by Assistant Lecturer Salwa Hazem Khalaf, in the presence of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Mohammed Al-Tamimi, the Administrative Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Haider Ali Karim Al-Asadi, and a number of faculty members, affiliates and students of the university. The course aimed to enhance the practical capabilities and skills of participants in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), which are a vital and essential tool in many fields, especially in the oil and gas sector. This course focuses on the practical applications of GIS and how to benefit from them in analyzing spatial data, which contributes to making more effective and accurate decisions, while highlighting the most important locations available to obtain this data. The course also addressed the applications of GIS in various fields. The course addressed a set of basic topics that relied on integrating the theoretical and practical aspects of GIS, and how to employ them effectively in analyzing spatial data to support decision-making processes, with a focus on developing
