College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organizes a workshop on combating electronic blackmail

The College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas at Basra University of Oil and Gas, in cooperation with the National Security/Basra Security Directorate, organized a workshop on combating electronic blackmail. A number of senior officials and specialists in this field lectured in it, under the patronage of the President of Basra University of Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Muhammad Al-Tamimi, this morning, Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The workshop included an introduction to the dangers of electronic blackmail and how to reduce this phenomenon and methods of prevention at the advisory, awareness and technical levels, including the necessity of maintaining privacy, not opening unknown links, ensuring the user's privacy is maintained, not publishing personal information, and not dealing with unknown applications that may be a trap for electronic blackmail. The lecturers emphasized the necessity of resorting to the hotline or submitting official complaints to the competent authorities in the event of exposure to electronic blackmail in order to protect everyone from this phenomenon that has begun to spread recently. The workshop reviewed the most important tips And guidance for social media users to avoid falling into the traps of electronic blackmail. At the end of the workshop, a number of questions and inquiries were posed to the lecturers regarding ways to protect themselves from this phenomenon.
