 In a move aimed at enhancing knowledge of the importance of international trade and facilitating the movement of goods, the Department of Petroleum Projects at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized a workshop on the TIR System this morning, Thursday, April 10, 2025. The lecturers, Eng. Rafid Khedher Radhi and Asst. Dr. Ali Kazim Saddam, addressed the accelerated growth of international trade between Iraq and countries around the world. The workshop witnessed a distinguished attendance of students and professors, as the lecturers, Lecturer Rafid Khedher Radhi and Asst. Dr. Ali Kazim Saddam, gave a detailed explanation of the TIR System and its importance in facilitating the movement of goods across international borders. The workshop also addressed several topics, including simplifying customs procedures, reducing delays at borders, and enhancing the safety of transportation operations. The benefits of implementing the TIR system for the Iraqi economy and its role in strengthening Iraq's position as a trade hub were highlighted. The lecturers emphasized the importance of the TIR system in facilitating transit traffic through Iraq, reducing transportation costs, and increasing revenues generated by transiting goods through Iraq's southern ports, particularly the Grand Faw Port. The lecturers pointed out that the TIR system contributes to facilitating customs procedures, accurately monitoring trucks using GPS technology, and maintaining the security of shipments and transportation means. This workshop is part of a series of events organized by the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas with the aim of developing students' skills and preparing them for the labor market.
