Tree Planting Unit at University of Basra for Oil and Gas, in cooperation with College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, organized a celebration to mark National Tree Planting Day. The celebration was organized in accordance with the initiative of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The celebration was sponsored by the President of University of Basra for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Mohammed Halil Al-Kaabi, and supervised by the Dean of College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Al-Tamimi. The campaign was also attended by the Ministerial Committee for National Tree Planting Day, Dr. Ali Taqi Hassan, and Dr. Mohammed Riyadh Abdul Razzaq.
The campaign was held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, with the participation of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Al-Tamimi; the Scientific Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Nassif Jassim Al-Abadi; the Administrative Assistant, Dr. Haider Ali Al-Asadi; and the Head of Department of Oil and Gas Economics, Dr. Adnan Hadi Jaaz. A number of professors, staff and students of the college participated in the campaign, as a number of seedlings and flowers were planted in the college gardens, in order to enhance the concepts of environmental conservation and the development of everything that enhances the provision of a suitable environment for the college’s staff and students.
The initiative received praise and commendation from the ministerial committee, which also contributed to planting flowers and trees. The celebration of Tree Planting Day also included an awareness campaign on the importance of tree planting and the hanging of posters and leaflets that emphasize the need for everyone to pay attention to these initiatives that contribute to enhancing the positive aspects of the environment, thus reflecting this on the lives and health of all individuals.
