Basra University of Oil and Gas, in cooperation with the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, is organizing a symposium on the dangers of drugs to individuals and society.

The Continuing Education Division and the Educational Guidance and Psychological Counseling Division at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, organized a symposium entitled "Drugs and Their Negative Impact on the Individual and Society" this morning, Wednesday, February 26, 2025. This symposium comes within the framework of the college's efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs and their destructive impact on society. The workshop was attended by the Scientific Assistant, Dr. Nassif Jassim, the Administrative Assistant, Dr. Haider Ali Al-Asadi, and a number of specialists and interested parties, as well as professors, students and employees. It included scientific lectures presented by the Director of the Legal Division, Colonel Ali Mohsen, and Dr. Amal Mahdi Jabr. The workshop addressed various aspects of the drug issue, including the types of drugs, their health and psychological effects, the reasons and motives that drive individuals to drug abuse, the social and economic impacts of the drug phenomenon, the role of educational and family institutions in combating drugs, and the laws and procedures taken to combat this scourge. The workshop concluded with important recommendations aimed at strengthening efforts Efforts are being made to combat drugs and protect society from their devastating effects. The organizers also emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between educational, security, and community institutions to combat drugs.
