To strengthen the partnership between academia and field of work, Basra Gas Company organized a training workshop for professors in College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas entitled "Occupational Safety in Industrial Facilities." The workshop took place over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, February 5-6, 2025, at Basra Gas Company headquarters.
Professor Mohammed Turki, Professor Akram Al-Kaabi, Professor Haider Yasser, and Professor Barq Al-Asadi presented the workshop. The workshop addressed the importance of safety in oil facilities and the most important measures to mitigate potential risks. It also addressed the plans and programs that could enhance safety by reducing the risks of pollution and emissions, as well as ways to protect employees working in oil companies.
The lecturers highlighted Basra Gas Company's efforts in implementing safety measures and preserving the company's human resources through the company's strategy on occupational safety, and how to maintain its infrastructure by following a series of safety measures to address any potential risks. That has been proven by previous and practical experiences. They also highlighted the company's excellence in developing plans and objectives that enhance safety and risk management within the work environment, thus enhancing the psychological well-being of its employees and customers in order to perform and complete work with all quality and mastery.
The lecturers pointed out in the workshop the most important topics that need to enhance safety in industrial facilities as well as in the process of marine gas transportation and attempts to reduce emissions and enhance sustainability to preserve the environment, which was of great importance in the lives of all societies, especially the preservation of biodiversity.
At the end of the workshop, the Deanship of College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas presented its thanks, praise and appreciation to the lecturers by honoring them with a commemorative shield for their scientific contribution during the days of the workshop. The trainees from the professors of the College were also awarded certificates of participation provided by Basra Gas Company.
