The Department of Oil and Gas Economics at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, in cooperation with Basra Gas Company, organized a scientific symposium entitled "Safety Procedures and Risk Management in Basra Gas Company" this morning, Sunday 12/1/2024, under the patronage of the President of Basra University for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid Al-Tamimi, and the symposium was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Rashed, and the Deputy Managing Director of Basra Gas Company, Mr. Marfa Al-Asadi, lectured in the symposium, who spoke about Basra Gas Company and its strategy on the subject of occupational safety and how to preserve its human resources and infrastructure by following a series of safety procedures to confront any risks, pointing out the importance of safety procedures and the necessity of adhering to them, especially in oil and gas projects and the risks resulting from working on these vital projects in which safety is a top priority that the company is committed to protecting its employees and workers. Then, Engineer Zainab Abdul Raouf from the Safety and Fire Department at Basra Gas Company gave a presentation that included the safety procedures followed by the company, reviewing the great efforts of the company's staff in extinguishing the minor fire that recently broke out at the NGL gas station in the North Rumaila field. An integrated plan was put in place to isolate the affected area and restart the main production line as soon as possible. She stressed the need to train and guide employees and workers on the proper use of equipment and prevention methods.
