Dr. Mustafa Abbas Abboud Publishes Scientific Research in a First-Class Journal, Q1

Date: 06 June, 2024

New research of importance to solve electricity crisis and has a direct impact on the development of smart economic buildings, as the teaching staff at College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Dr. Mustafa Abbas Abboud, contributed with a scientific research team in which a group of distinguished researchers from Iraqi, Arab and foreign universities participated in completing that scientific research. . The team conducted deliberations via closed Internet channels, which focused on the problems of electrical loads in power stations, most of which are due to the loads of government and residential buildings. The scientific team showed that more than 70% of the peak load occurring after midday is due to electricity consumption by air conditioners. In this research, artificial intelligence was employed to manage the cooling systems (chillers). Their team was able to turn off the air conditioning devices and dispense with them for the period from 10:30 in the morning until 7:30 in the evening (peak load time), by relying on cold water tanks under the building and cooled during the night. The electrical loads are low and the temperature is relatively low, and this helps raise the value of the coefficient of performance (COP) of the chillers, as a smart system (MADCRL) was designed to manage these tasks in addition to other tasks in the building without the intervention of the residents. As the scientific team explained, this system smart technologies can make a significant contribution if they are adopted and implemented in Iraq, as the guidance (saving) of electrical energy reaches more than 25% of the electrical energy consumed in buildings. This is due to two reasons: first, obtaining the highest value for COP, and second, that the MADCRL has achieved high results. This was proven through a set of scientific evidence and facts described in the research, which helped publish the research in the scientific journal specialized in energy research (Journal of Energy Storage) affiliated with the international publishing house Elsevier, which has a Cite Score of 10.3 and an Impact Factor (Impact). factor9.4.  It is one of the journals registered in the global databases of Scopus and Clarvit.
