The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized an awareness symposium entitled (Avoid Fraud and Psychological Preparation for Exams) under the patronage of the President of Basra University for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Muhammad Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of Dean of College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Al-Tamimi. The symposium was moderated by assistant lecturer Israa Faleh, and Dr. Safaa Khairallah from College of Education for Girls at Tikrit University lectured. The symposium was held online on the Google Meet application. In the presence of a number of students from the scientific departments in the college for the morning and evening studies, and the lecturer spoke. The first aspect was about the concept of cheating in exams and its causes, touching on the legal provisions that punish cases of cheating or attempted cheating. The second aspect was about the social and academic effects resulting from cheating in exams, and the third aspect was devoted to talk about the concept and strategies of psychological preparation for exams. The symposium aimed to explain the reasons or factors that may lead to cheating, clarifying the social and academic effects resulting from cheating, defining the concept of psychological preparation for exams, explaining the most important strategies for achieving psychological preparation for exams, how to get rid of stress, optimal preparation to focus on studying and answering accurately, and how the student prepares himself before exams and during exam days. The lecturer listened to the students’ opinions and provide them with many tips that will enable them to pass the final exams successfully and with excellence. The symposium comes close to the date of the final exams for the second semester (first round) of the academic year 2023/2024.
