College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas and Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) Organize a Scientific Symposium on Iraqi Oil Marketing Mechanisms

College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas at Basra University for Oil and Gas, in cooperation with Oil Marketing Company (SOMO), organized a scientific symposium to discuss the mechanisms of marketing Iraqi oil, under the slogan “Exchanging experiences and cross-fertilizing ideas contributes to the development of skills and strengthens relations between the university and oil companies,” and in the presence of a number of members Basra Governorate Council and representatives of national and foreign oil companies operating in Basra. The symposium was held on Wednesday, the twentieth of February. The Oil Cultural Center Hall, coinciding with the founding day of Basra University for Oil and Gas. The ceremony was moderated by the fortune teller, Dr. Fatima Hadi. The symposium was opened with verses from the Holy Quran, recited by the reciter (Mustafa Abdul Sada), then listening to the national anthem and reading Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs of Iraq. The symposium was opened with a speech by the Dean of College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami  Al-Tamimi, in which he welcomed the attendees and stressed the depth of the partnership between the education sector and the oil sector, especially since our university is specialized and that the outputs of College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas are in the interest of the oil sector.  In the local government, oil companies, their representatives, and private sector companies, after which a documentary film was shown about the Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing, then a presentation on the history of the establishment of the Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing at College of Oil and Gas Industrial Management, presented by the head of the department, Dr. Uday Hussein, and then came the topic providing a case study on the connection between the academic theoretical side and the practical side in the oil and gas sector by reviewing the experiences of some graduates of the Oil and Gas Management and Marketing Department and those appointed to oil companies. The topic was presented by (Miss. Maysoon Hussein and Miss. Alaa Abbas ), after which a number of specialists took the stage from SOMO Company to present the topic (Mechanisms for Marketing Iraqi Oil), they were (Assistant Director General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Mr. Ali Nizar), from the Market Research and Strategic Planning Authority, Mr. Ali Nimah, and from the Crude Oil and Gas Marketing Authority at SOMO Company, Mrs. Alaa Ali. The session of the topic was moderated by the Administrative Assistant at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Dr. Adnan Hadi. The topic witnessed interventions and discussions by the attendees from specialists, experts, researchers and students, whose interventions enriched the symposium and enriched it scientifically. The symposium was then concluded by reading the recommendations, including trying to work on joint cooperation with local oil companies and foreign institutions in order to enhance the fields of training and employment for college graduates, and work to modernize and adapt the curricula according to what the oil companies need in the labor market, and the possibility of preparing joint studies and research by taking advantage of the official publications and bulletins issued by the Oil Marketing Company whenever available and according to the specificity and controls of oil commercial competition, and holding courses Joint development training between the two sides, and scientific activities to be held continuously in the coming period. College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas also honored the participants in this symposium from SOMO Company with a flag shield presented by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sami Al-Tamimi, and the Scientific Assistant at the University, Professor Dr. Ammar Al-Baaj, The university graduates who contributed by presenting their vision during the symposium were also honored, namely (Maysoon Hussein/ Alaa Abbas). The symposium witnessed a distinguished and large media presence due to its importance on the reality of the oil and gas sector and the educational reality.
