College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas Organizes a Scientific Symposium on the Possibility of Investing in Renewable Energy Sources in Basra Governorate.

Department Management and Marketing of Oil and Gas at College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized a scientific symposium entitled (The Possibility of Investing in Renewable Energy Resources in Basra Governorate), in which the assistant lecturer, Haider Sadiq, lectured. It held on Tuesday, the twenty-third of January, under the patronage of the President of Basra University for Oil and Gas. Professor Dr. Muhammad H. Al-Kaabi and the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Sami Obaid. The symposium touched on the concept of renewable energy and the reasons that made the world move towards renewable energy sources. The researcher also pointed to traditional energy sources (oil, natural gas and coal) and their impact on pollution of the vital environment due to gases emitted and resulting from the combustion process. In light of renewable energy sources in Basra Governorate, the lecturer focused on solar energy, as he touched on its concept, the factors affecting it, and the methods of working of solar panels in producing electrical energy. The researcher also calculated the amount of solar radiation received by the solar panels. per month in a unit of mega joules, in addition to identifying the oil sites that exploit the field of solar energy, the amount of energy produced by the panels, and the purpose of their construction in those sites. Al-Eidani also referred to the concept of wind energy and the mathematical methods for calculating it according to the monthly distribution, which is based primarily on wind speed. The symposium came out with a set of Scientific recommendations, including the necessity of revitalizing and using specific energy in Basra Governorate by increasing the participation of renewable energy in providing energy and participating in energy security, supporting innovation and transferring appropriate technology, building capabilities for national cadres to enable them to keep pace with modern technical developments in the field of the renewable energy sector, and enhancing the role of the private sector.
