Women’s Empowerment Unit at College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas , in cooperation with Women’s Empowerment Division at Basra University for Oil and Gas, organized an awareness initiative entitled (16 Days to Combat Violence against Women) on Sunday, the third of December, with the participation of a number of male and female faculty members. The responsible of the unit assistant lecturer Russel Essam Nouri stated that the 16 Days Initiative to Eliminate Violence against Women is an international campaign to combat violence against women and girls. The campaign was conducted every year from November 25, which is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10. The first is Human Rights Day, as the campaign highlights that violence against women is a fundamental violation of human rights, and the initiative included writing a collective statement “No to violence against women.”
