College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas Organizes a Symposium Entitled (Pink October, Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Month)

Women’s Empowerment Unit at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized a scientific symposium entitled (Pink October, Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention Month), under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Muhammad H. Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami O. Al-Tamimi, on Monday, the sixteenth of October, in the conference hall. Dr. Enas S. Al-Mousa and Dr. Noman Abdel-Razzaq Al-Mallah from Basra Health Department lectured. The symposium was moderated by the head of Women’s Empowerment Unit, assistant lecturer Russel Issam Nouri. The lecture indicated that World Cancer Awareness Month Breast or Pink October is a global initiative that was launched at the international level in October 2006. Sites around the world use the color pink as logo in order to raise awareness of the dangers of breast cancer. Campaigns and activities are also carried out in various countries in order to raise awareness of this disease. Al-Mallah explained the most prominent symptoms and causes of this disease, how to avoid it, the necessity of preventing it through early detection, the importance of exercising, maintaining a healthy weight, and following a healthy diet to reduce the incidence of this disease. In addition to the necessity of avoiding smoking, adopting breastfeeding, and being careful of products that come into contact with the body. Periodic examination reduces the seriousness of this disease. At the conclusion of the symposium, discussion of the questions of female and male employees who attended the symposium activities.
