The College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas organizes a scientific symposium on the elements of the oil system

Date: 11 January, 2023

The Department of Oil Project Management at the College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas organized a scientific symposium entitled (Elements of the Oil System) on Monday evening, the ninth of January, and at the central conference hall at the university, and under the auspices of the President of Basra University of Oil and Gas, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Dr. Sami Hashem Faleh Al-Saadi, and the symposium was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Rafid Khader Radi, and the teaching symposium was lectured by Mennatullah Muhammad Hatif and the two students Sarah Sajjad and Shahd Hassan, The symposium aimed to know the elements of the oil system that contribute to the generation, migration and assembly of oil and gas, as the importance of the initial place for the process of generating hydrocarbons to the final stage that oil and gas reaches by accumulation and thus is extracted and produced was reviewed. These rocks and thus the process of migration of hydrocarbons to the reservoir rocks, which are characterized by porosity and high permeability and this indicates their ability to store hydrocarbons and in order to maintain these economic groupings must be surrounded by reservoir rocks buffer rocks (cover rocks) as these rocks are characterized by being of low permeability and thus prevent the leakage or migration of hydrocarbons to the surface, with the availability of source rocks, reservoir and insulating rocks, the last place where oil and gas accumulate is what is known as the oil trap, which is Final Stage
