College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas Organizes a Symposium on the Economic Effects of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing at College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized a scientific symposium entitled (The Fourth Industrial Revolution and its Economic Impacts), on Tuesday, the twenty-seventh of December, at the central conference hall in the university, and under the auspices of the President of Basra University for Oil and Gas, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Kaabi and under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Dr. Sami Al-Saadi. The symposium was moderated by the Head of Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing, Assistant Lecturer Uday H. Ali, and two students in the evening study (Ahmed Hassan and Hasanein Tawfiq). They lectured and talked about the technological changes imposed by the Fourth Industrial Revolution on individuals. In particular, the effects on the level of production, financial markets, business and economy. They talked on digital innovations that contributed to economic changes at all levels and the escalation of the role of creativity and innovation in the production process that is greater than capital, as well as achieving high rates of economic and social development, and the emergence of robots, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology and the Internet. And 3D printing and the qualitative leaps it brought about at the economic, administrative and even marketing levels. They touched on digital innovations that contributed to economic changes at all levels and the escalation of the role of creativity and innovation in the production process greater than capital as well as achieving high rates in economic and social development. They reviewed the most important effects that this revolution brought about on the productive sectors and economic gains, as well as indicating the most important accompanying challenges, especially in terms of labor markets.
