The College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas Organizes a Scientific Symposium on (Analysis of the Population Structure in Iraq and its Economic Effectiveness)

And on the conference hall in the college, under the patronage and presence of the President of Basra University of Oil and Gas, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Halil Hafez Al-Kaabi, and the symposium was attended by the Dean of the College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas, Dr. Sami Hashem Al-Saadi, and the symposium was moderated by the administrative assistant at the university, Prof. On the relationship between population and development as one of the most problematic relationships in contemporary societies in terms of population numbers and their qualitative composition, which constitutes influencing factors in development, as the United Nations estimates indicate that Iraq will reach its population rate in 2030 to (53 million people), and the lecturer reviewed several reasons that constitute Pressure factors from the economic side, including high unemployment, the effects of the inflation rate, and the difficulty of investment procedures and doing business Legislation in this regard, the rampant corruption and bureaucracy and the failure to provide a safe environment for investment, which is negatively reflected on the level of business, investments, employment and job opportunities, as well as the increase in the tax rate, which is not matched by satisfactory services for citizens. The lecturer explained by noting that the structure of Iraq’s population suffers from problems in The age structure, dependency ratio, the obvious increase in the number of women of childbearing age, the rise of the unemployed, not to mention the internal and external migration of the population, as well as the impact of the demographic factor on development plans and its interactions
