The Department of Oil and Gas Management and Marketing at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas organized a scientific symposium entitled “Application of the Linear Regression Model for Estimation in Economics Research”. Dr. Mahfuz F. Hassan lectured and the assistant lecturer Haider Ali presented the lecture in the conference hall. The symposium held on Wednesday, 15 December, and under the patronage of the President of Basra University of Oil and Gas and under the supervision of the Dean of the College. The symposium reviewed the applications of the linear regression model in economics research. The objectives are to identify the statistical procedures for choosing a forecast model and software application to estimate economic parameters and to apply economic models in the oil industry to predict their future values. The level of job performance for engineers, and detailed explanations were provided for the steps to implement the linear regression model manually and in a practical manner using the spss program to extract models and prediction equations. At the end of the seminar, the Dean of the College honored Dr. Mahfuz.
