College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas Organizes a Workshop on (Drugs: the Scourge of Society)

Under the patronage of President of Basra University for Oil and Gas, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Al-Kaabi and under the supervision of the Dean of College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, Dr. Sami Al-Saadi, Educational Counseling and Psychological Guidance Unit at College of Industrial in cooperation with Department of Oil Projects Management, organized a workshop entitled “Drugs.... The Scourge of Society”. Mrs. Yasmeen Matroud emphasized that drugs are one of the most severe and most dangerous societal scourges in the world. She referred to the causes of addiction, the stages of drug addiction, and the psychological, societal and physical damages to the addict. While Mrs. Fatima Ahmed touched on the methods of prevention and treatment of drugs, noting the need for educational and psychological interaction with all youths so that they do not deviate in this dangerous slip. In the conclusion of the symposium, several recommendations were submitted to the competent authorities, including the need to establish places of entertainment in Basra, adopting scientific and research methods with convalescents and addicts, and offering awareness to contribute to youth awareness of the dangers of this phenomenon. emphasizing the youth’s practice of diverse talents and skills, staying away from black companions, and preoccupation with matters that develop their capabilities instead of the leisure time that some young people suffer from.
