The meeting was coordinated by Dr. Mohammed Dawood, Head of the Career Services and Qualification Unit at the college, and attended by Dr. Hassan Khayoun. Al-Majal is a prominent Iraqi company operating across five countries, specializing in oilfield services, recruiting graduates, technicians, and laborers for oil companies, as well as training and developing oil sector personnel to prepare them for the labor market. Ahmed Arafat and Ms. Zahra Taher presented an overview of the company and the services it provides within the oil sector. In turn, the Dean expressed his pleasure in welcoming the guests, voicing his hope to build bridges of communication between the college and the company in the future. This collaboration is envisioned to follow legal and regulatory frameworks that facilitate academic and practical cooperation, ultimately providing training opportunities and field skills for the college's students.The primary objective of this visit is to explore avenues for ongoing cooperation and communication between the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas and Al-Majal Services and Recruitment Company.
Dr. Mustafa Abbas Abboud, a faculty member in the Department of Oil and Gas Projects at the College of Industrial Management for Oil and Gas, published a research paper titled "Meta-bird mating optimizer for combinatorial optimization problems." The session was attended by the Dean of the College, the Administrative Assistant, heads of academic departments, as well as faculty members and staff.The training course covered two main pillars:The First Pillar: Defining the adequacy of the Federal Integrity Commission's preventive oversight measures in relation to the scale of widespread corruption to prevent the waste of public funds.The Second Pillar: The Federal Integrity Commission's post-audit (subsequent) oversight and its impact on preserving public funds.The attending faculty members engaged actively through interventions and questions following the presenter's legal paper. Based on these discussions, the academic lecture was enriched with ideas and visions suitable for future scientific activities.
The College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas at Basra University of Oil and Gas organized its central celebration on the occasion of Iraqi Sovereignty Day this Sunday morning, October 4, 2026. The event took place at the Central Conference Hall, with the participation of the college's faculty, staff, and students.The ceremony commenced with a recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by staff member Sajjad Maitham, followed by reciting Surah Al-Fatiha in honor of the martyrs of Iraq, and the playing of the Iraqi National Anthem. Afterward, the President of Basra University of Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Mohammed Hleil Hafiz Al-Kaabi, delivered his speech. This was followed by a speech from the Dean of the College of Industrial Management of Oil and Gas, Professor Dr. Sami Obeid Mohammed Al-Tamimi, on behalf of all the university's staff and faculty. In his speech, the Dean extended his warmest congratulations and blessings to the beloved Iraqi people on this occasion, which recalls the true meaning of the state, the sanctity of the homeland, and the independence of Iraqi decision-making. He emphasized that Iraq's sovereignty is neither a mere slogan for special occasions nor a stance open to interpretation or compromise; rather, it is an absolute right and a constitutional and national responsibility entrusted to all state institutions and national forces. He added that this day is a celebration of the nation's dignity and independent will, noting that sovereignty is cemented by the blood of the martyrs who watered the land of this great country—a land of pride and values. He further stressed that sovereignty is protected through science, knowledge, diligence, hard work, and dedication to building national institutions across all sectors.The celebration also featured a segment of patriotic poetry and anthems expressing love for the homeland, performed by college staff members Hassan Jassim and Muneer Abbas, during which Iraqi flags were raised in joy and celebration of this national occasion that is dear to the hearts of all Iraqis.
